Getting Started
How do I know if my child may benefit from an evaluation?
An evaluation may be helpful when speech, language, feeding, reading, voice, or oral-function concerns affect daily life or cause frustration. A qualified clinician can assess the concern; website information cannot diagnose your child.
How do I get started?
Complete the secure Ocean Friends new-patient intake form or call (816) 228-8393 if you need help first. Submitting intake does not by itself confirm an appointment.
Do I need a referral?
Referral requirements can depend on the service, payer, and insurance plan. Contact BSPS and your insurer before care to confirm the requirements that apply to you.
What happens at an evaluation?
The process depends on the patient's age and concerns. It may include an interview, clinical observation, and appropriate assessment tools. The clinician will explain findings and recommendations after reviewing the available information.
Insurance & Cost
Which insurance plans does BSPS accept?
Insurance participation can change. Contact BSPS and your insurer to confirm current network status, benefits, authorization requirements, and expected patient responsibility before an appointment.
Does insurance verification guarantee payment?
No. Benefit information is not a guarantee of coverage or payment. Final coverage depends on the plan, medical-necessity rules, authorizations, coding, and the insurer's claim decision.
Therapy & Progress
How long does therapy take?
Treatment frequency and duration vary. Recommendations depend on the evaluation, individual goals, response to care, attendance, and other clinical factors.
Will parents or caregivers be involved?
Caregiver involvement may be recommended when it supports the patient's goals. The clinician can explain appropriate home strategies and how progress will be reviewed.
Does BSPS coordinate with other providers?
BSPS may coordinate with other providers when clinically appropriate and when the patient or legal representative authorizes communication.
